Life Story Company

About

Hi, I’m Sean. I’m a biographer.

I believe a family’s stories belong in the words of the person who lived them. That’s why I do this.

Three women and a man relaxing on a shaded porch with a hammock and potted ferns
Friends in their best coats on a bench by an ice rink, early 1900s
Somebody knew their names.

Why I do this

I’m Sean Ivins, a biographer in Salt Lake City. I studied history, I’ve written many people’s stories over the years, and I love this work.

I started with my own family: a recorder, a lot of questions, and the old records to check the details. Every family has a story that’s been told for fifty years. It deserves to be written down in the teller’s own words.

That is the idea behind The Life Story. Your mom or dad tells it their way, over three long conversations. I write it up in their voice, and we go over the draft together before you download it.

I’m also a project manager by trade. Your story gets a written plan, real dates, and one person who answers for it. A writing system helps with the draft, and I read and shape every page myself.

I meet families in person anywhere from Ogden to Provo, and by video anywhere in the United States. If you’re not sure where to start, the free guide is a good first step. Or call me. Fifteen minutes is enough to make a plan.
